How to Make an Iced Espresso Tonic Coffee

An iced tonic espresso otherwise known as a café tónico, a refreshing drink made with coffee and tonic water.

It's super simple to make, and adding a splash of citrus with lime or orange juice balances any bitter notes and adds a natural sweetness. If you're skeptical, give this a try. One sip and you'll be hooked.

What You Need

  • 1 double shot of your favourite espresso - we used our Feels Good Espresso
  • A home espresso machine would work best, but you could use a Moka Pot to hack this recipe.
  • 150ml tonic water.
  • Ice cubes.
  • 1 tablespoon of Orange juice or Lime juice for natural sweetness.

How To Make

  • Start by filling a chilled glass with plenty of ice cubes leaving enough space for the tonic water, espresso, and lime/orange juice.
  • Add the tonic water.
  • Brew a double shot of espresso, timing it carefully for the best flavour, if you like let it cool on some ice for a minute.
  • Then slowly add espresso, not too fast as the tonic fizzes quickly and might bubble over.
  • Top with lime or orange juice. Feel free to use other citrus juices like lemon, or grapefruit instead of lime or orange juice.
  • Stir gently and enjoy.
  • Sip and savour your perfectly crafted Iced Espresso Tonic

For a layered effect, hold a spoon upside down over the glass and slowly pour the espresso onto it; just make sure to mix it before drinking to get the full flavour.

This recipe ensures you enjoy a refreshing iced espresso tonic every time, with the perfect mix of tonic water and rich espresso.
